Gore and Peace

Al Gore was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on climate change.

The obvious question is: what exaclty does global wamring have to do with peace? It's fairly simple: if the polar ice caps melt and sea levels rise, there will be hundreds of millions of refugees. Those refugees will flee toward higher ground, leading to a massive scramble for resources and probably civil wars across dozens of countries.

Of course we get a lot of grousing from sour-grapes types who think that global wamring isn't real and can't stand the idea that more people like Al Gore than George Bush. Since they all say that Nobel Prizes are meaningless anyway, why do they spend so much time on it?
