Cartesian Political Diagrams

Are you a self-described 'moderate'? Of course you are. Who isn't? Put that idea to the test with the Political Compass, and see where you stand.

I scored a -8.00 on Economics and a -7.08 on Authoritarianism, making me part of the Libertarian Left.

Your turn.

I took this one a while ago. It put be about seven to the right economically and up one making me a slight authortarian.

It's a pretty good quiz, and I like the compass idea better than a straight spectrum, but I like to think of myself as more libertarian that that. The compass wouldn't lie would it?

It might have something to do with your distrust of human nature and your belief that it must follow very strict boundaries.

Haha, yeah could be. I re-took it and stayed at 7 to the right. Big surprise there. I made it down to -.5 on the authortarian scale though. Hooray.

The first time I took this test was three years ago - I was very much to the left and scored likewise.

Now, I scored 2.75 to the right on economics, and 2.05 downwards on the social libertarianism - the latter is farther right than I expected on social values, but I see it's because I answered conservatively on security issues (which I think transcend 'social' issues).

Also, I don't really agree with their placement of various leaders on the spectrum - Ariel Sharon is ranked more 'fascist' than George W. Bush, even though there are currently more social liberties in Israel than the U.S. (this in spite of the terror and disengagement woes). Pope Benedict is just a little bit under Robert Mugabe on the fascism scale. I would love to know how many innocents the Pope has uprooted from their farms and how many independent journalists he has tortured.

I've taken this before, and it's not bad: however, I think the moral politics test better indicates my political position. I scored -7 on the Moral Order axis and 3 on the Moral Rules axis there. That puts me somewhere between libertarian socialism and activism.

I scored +3 to the right and +1 Authoritarian. Somehow I doubt that I truly am aligned with Gerhard Schroder...Fascinating quiz, though.

I don’t think the questions are as slanted as some people say; I think that many people are further left than they realize and refuse to admit it.
